Built at Gibson's renowned Memphis facility, this ES-335 is a great example of why these guitars have earned such a strong reputation among players.
Gibson's Memphis factory opened in 2000 and was dedicated primarily to the production of their iconic hollow and semi-hollow body guitars, including the ES-335. Just ask Steve Strongman! Buddy's on a heater! By 2013, the facility had become its own division within Gibson, with a team of experienced builders specializing in the ES lineup. With the Memphis factory closing in 2019 and production returning to Nashville, these Memphis-built instruments represent a distinct chapter in Gibson's history and have developed a loyal following among guitar enthusiasts. This particular example is in Very Good condition, showing only minor surface marks from normal handling. Overall, it's an exceptionally clean guitar for its age and has clearly been well cared for.
Playability is excellent, with a fresh Sherwood setup by our tech Michael Jordan James Williams Reinhart. Tonally, it's everything you'd expect from a great ES-335. Warm, articulate cleans, plenty of midrange character, and that unmistakable semi-hollow response when you start pushing an amplifier.
